What if George Bush had...

What If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the Fifth of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had misspelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potato as “proof” of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on “Earth Day”, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually “get” what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he is inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in just a few months -- so you'll have three years and six months to come up with an answer.

I am NOT looking forward to the next 3.5 years of him.

I wonder if the media and the (generally ignorant) public will keep the kool-aid IV plugged in for the whole term or if they'll wake up.

I hate to give the public too much credit, but the brave new world, the Obamanation, is a disaster.

I saw a poll today that says something like... He's losing favor with independents but "African-Americans, Democrats, women - still like him by the same margins".

African-Americans I can understand. Democrats of course would be loyal. But women? Women??? Are women that dense? Calm down, Opie.

I mean to say!!.. My wife is even critical in her sleep. She walks critically. Once she even criticised the way I held a telephone. How the hell does Obie get a pass?

I think whatever Obama does - good or bad - will never compare to the last administration. Obama's book hasn't been written yet. Everyone is so damn judgemental.

George W Bush killed the repugnician party...It will be a long time before the party revives if ever, because Obamma has along way to go before he equals the stupidity of Bush,Cheney or McCain...
Matter of fact he could serve several more terms before he comes close to just the damage that Bush has done...Ya'll republican sheep better wake up to the fact that your party is considered to be lower than whale shit...Now if Gravel had got the Libertarian nod, We would now have a libertarian president...In any coming elections I predict the republican seats to go to the Dems and Independents...Its gonna take the republicans about thirty years to get rid of the bush chenney smell and begin to take their fair share of available votes

As with most Democrats, the last two can't believe what they don't hear from their favorite news outlets.

Using one's intellect, standing for liberty and making moral choices is "judgemental"..

The triumph of liberal relativism combined with moral cowardice. The conseqence of this state of mind is always "I was only following orders" or "we didn't know what was happening".

Thanks, Sissy (probably a male), for reminding me why I fight, and what I'm up against.

By the way, Sissy. The ability to imagine different futures, to evaluate the nature of the present, and perceive error is what separated us from the things to the left of us on the evolutionary chart. Try it.

Sissy, a tsunami is building. I suggest watching something other than those pablum-pushing nannies in the network news this weekend so you can begun to understand the grass-based movement that is going to retake this country.

Nickie, I struggle with the "women" issue daily. My blog is aimed at women. I promote myself to the mommy networks. It is tough, thankless work. Many of them hate me, including my main advertiser. They have failed to publish my blog link, as they are contracted to, for weeks now.

The women themselves, with the exception of the amazing conservative female bloggers, seem to want to stay in their bubble of family, community, home and kitchen, unmolested by thoughts of politics. They did what they thought was right last November. Whatever the consequences are of that, they don't want to hear about it for another 3 years. (see my blog post "The Bride Keeps Up Pretences".

I was told by an anonymous troll that I needed to get back to posting about my kids and recipes.

Ugg, don't get me started on this topic!!
I could go on forever.

Thanks for a wonderful blog

Thanks, Julie. I enjoyed your thoughts on Sarah Palin.

Thanks for visiting.

Sissy, I believe that being judgmental will help the American people survive and overcome this destructive administration.

Bush, Cheney and the ratpack were certainly judged harshly by the MSM on an hourly basis. A little Press objectivity and criticism during this term would be both appreciated and miraculous.

Thanks for visiting.

Dragon, you're not gonna find many fans of the Republicans at my house. And a strong independent movement is probably going to help things greatly. But at some point, the independents have to put on the big boy pants and act as if they are prepared for leadership rather than leading a torchlight parade.

You and Sissy have voiced your dissatisfaction with W, but as Sissy said... the books haven't been written yet. History is happening right now. We're all just too damn close to the forest.

Opied, what can I say. You are a jewel. And an insightful babe, too.

Oh Good God, people! First of all, I was on Ambien when I wrote that so I had to reread what I wrote. I still believe those things. I think Bush screwed us out of greed. I don't know what Obama is gonna do. I don't think we will end up worse off. I also think Obama didn't get to the White House by pure honesty - it's just the way gov't works. Having said all that, I'm a parole officer who's been staying home with her kids for 4 years. What the hell do I know? Probably as much as you do. We don't KNOW shit. Luckily in America I can think, feel and learn anything I want. Are you so naive to think we'll all agree? All I can do is hope for the best. I hope that something good comes out of this administration. It will take time, there's a big mess to fix. That is hard. Try supporting the President, he might really need it.

For all her faults, good old Queenie is a gracious host and had she received a boxed set of Dr Alex Comfort's Joy of Sex DVD's from Paddy O` Bama she would have been fine. She knows that when a gift is given, it is often all the giver can manage and won't dis them. She passes all the old `tat` to Philip to flog on E Bay.

If we're talking about the day-to-day machinations of backroom politics, you're correct. We don't know shit.

But I've been a political observer and participant for way too many years to ignore what's going on. I recognize Chicago ward politics when I see it. I have been witness to two different vibrant European societies laid waste by dishonest "feel good" plans that catered to labor unions, so-called intellectuals, civil servants and political thugs.

The perfect storm has arrived and is now threatening my country. I heard the battle cry of "support the president" during the Nixon administration. I ignored the plea then, and took to the streets. I ignore it now.

If Obama truly wants my support, he'll actually make decisions that'll earn it.

Hogday, I suspect those DVDs will turn up at the Saturday boot sale at Windsor.

George Bush would've been crucified if he made a joke at the handicaps expense. As he well should have been, and as Obama should have been also!

Becky, Bush was quite an imperfect President who could have made better decisions, but the MSM attacks caused the Right to gather around him when they should have been more critical.

The MSM will now cause the Right (and moderates) to lose even more respect for the presidency.

Funny how not agreeing with Obama automatically makes one a Republican. Granted Bush was a retard and fucked up our economy out of greed and stupidity, I won't argue that. What that doesn't do is justify Obama's flagrantly wasteful spending and further destruction of an already floundering country. I agree that McCain/Palin would have been equally as tragic but Obama is simply an idiotic Socialist disaster impending. Yeah Obama's book hasn't yet been written but he's already more than showed his style of penmanship and it's not going to turn out well. This man isn't the charismatic and brilliant future of America the cool-aid drinkers want to bill him as and it's shining through daily. He doesn't have the experience and he doesn't have the intelligence. What he does have is a penchant toward pseudo-communist methods that are time tested and proven to fail without exception every single time and all the sheep can do is point to Bush and say "well he's better than him". Not Good Enough!

Ha. Good one. You, sir, are a wordsmith. Thanks for posting it here at Goomba's Big Tent.
